What is dementia care at home?

At Ceibraxs we understand that regular routine and familiar surroundings are vital when living with dementia. That’s why we offer expert dementia care to help people stay in their own homes for as long as possible. Our professional care workers provide the support needed to stay in place, surrounded by their memories.

Dementia care can be provided at any stage, from mild memory problems through to more advanced symptoms. Our specially trained carers tailor their approach to the person, supporting safety, dignity and independence as much as possible

How our dementia carers support day‑to‑day

  • Companionship, reassurance and conversation to reduce anxiety and loneliness

  • Support with personal care, continence and hygiene in a respectful, unhurried way

  • Help with meals, drinks and gentle prompts to eat and stay hydrated

  • Medication assistance and gentle reminders, following agreed plans

  • Mobility support and supervision to reduce the risk of falls or wandering

  • Structured, familiar routines and simple activities that feel meaningful

  • Practical strategies to manage common symptoms such as confusion, memory loss, agitation and incontinence

What are the options for dementia care at home?

We offer a range of home‑based dementia care, from occasional visits to full‑time live‑in support.

1 — Visiting dementia care

Scheduled visits to support with personal care, meals, medication, domestic tasks and meaningful activities that fit the person’s interests and abilities.

2 — Nightly dementia care

Night‑time support for people who wake frequently, experience confusion or may be at risk of wandering, giving families the chance to sleep.

3 — Live‑in dementia care

A live‑in carer provides 24‑hour support, maintaining routines, offering reassurance and reducing the disruption that can come with frequent staff changes or moves to new environments.

Note: We can also offer short‑term respite care for existing family carers who are providing palliative care at home.

Benefits of dementia care at home

Many difficulties associated with dementia – such as confusion, memory loss, aggression and incontinence – can make it harder to feel independent and in control. Home‑based dementia care can ease this for both the person and their family.

1 — Familiar surroundings, less confusion

Remaining at home reduces the disorientation that can come with new environments, corridors and routines.

2 — Regular routines

Our carers help keep mealtimes, bedtimes and daily rituals as consistent as possible, which can ease anxiety and behaviour changes.

3 — Consistent faces

We aim to keep a small team of regular carers so your loved one sees the same people, building trust and reducing distress.

4 — Support for family

Families gain guidance and practical help to cope with changing behaviour, plus breaks to rest and recharge.

Arranging dementia care with Ceibraxs

We start by listening – to the person living with dementia wherever possible, and to those who know them best. We find out about their history, routines, likes and dislikes, sources of stress and what a ‘good day’ looks like. From there we agree a personalised dementia care plan and match carers with the right skills, temperament and training. Care can start with a small number of visits and build up to nightly or live‑in care if needed.

FAQs

Yes. Many families choose to introduce support early, so the person gets used to carers while they still have capacity to express preferences and build relationships.

Our dementia carers receive specialist training in understanding dementia, communication, behaviour changes and safe, person‑centred care.

This is common. We work with you to introduce support gradually, building trust through familiar routines and gentle, respectful communication.

Yes. We regularly support people living with dementia alongside mobility problems, long‑term conditions or frailty, combining dementia‑aware approaches with practical physical care.

If safety risks become unmanageable at home even with support, or if specialist nursing is needed 24/7, we’ll be honest about this and can help you think through other options.
